Foley's Follies
Like manna from heaven... a sex scandal involving underage White House pages shuts down the GOP gloatfest over their unconstitutional terror bill, opens up another seat to help the Dems to build a majority in the House, and exposes Republican claims to moral leadership as shallow hypocrisy.
The coming days will demonstrate just how far the House leadership went to put Republican politics before the protection of the young teens entrusted to their care. Foley remained head of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children for MONTHS after top GOP leadership were informed of his inappropriate behavior. The only Democrat on the Page Board, the job of which is to oversee the Page program, was not told of the incidents. No investigation took place. The GOP was more interested in preventing its own embarrassment that in protecting the children entrusted to its charge.
Can anyone say "the Boston Archdiocese"?
